Almost 234 million credit card holder data were either hacked into or leaked in the last four years in the whole world, which led to the institution of certain mandatory check points. Instance, Visa already made changes to its Account Information Security Program since October.

I’m not sure if you are already familiar with PCI DSS or Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard. If not, let me define it for you, It is a kind of a universal standard for security established by the PCI Security Standards Council. This standard needs to be followed by any organization that uses, processes or sends information pertaining to the credit cards issued by companies like American Express, MasterCard, and Visa.

Merchants become visa PCI compliant to comply with standards which does not actually guarantee or equal security. To date, a lot of merchants still get hacked because their credit card information could be hacked within their environment. However, there are already new solutions for this problem, one of those I know is the BrainTree’s.
