Many people think that crate a dog or a puppy is a cruel thing to do. The truth is it is not a cruel thing for a pet owner to crate his or her dog. Once a dog was trained, it will appreciate the safety, comfort, and security of having its own space. Dogs are also having their natural instinct of being in a ‘den’ that is why dog crates will become their private home or den.

There are different type of dog crates that are available on the market. Here are some of the dog crates that you can have for your pet.

Plastic: These kinds of crates commonly have handles. Dog crates that are made of plastic are confining but at the same time is able to provide privacy. It has air holes on the top side and on its left and right sides. Usually dog crates that are made from plastic have screen door opening.

Wire: This type of dog crates are easy to clean. It is usually made of sturdy metal that is why air flows freely. It also allows the dog to have a 360 degree view of its surrounding.

Aluminum or stainless steel: Mostly aluminum or stainless steel crates are providing less visibility for the dog. These are often used by the pet owners during travels. These are well ventilated, sturdy and leak proof.

You should not use dog crates as your punishment for you pet. You have to use it for confinement purposes. By training your dog about dog crates, you can discipline your dog that there is a certain place designated for it.
