The Greenhouse Effect…

I searched for some definition of “Greenhouse Effect” to better understand the meaning of it. Here are some of the results I found from the two most reliable sources I browsed:

noun the trapping of the sun’s warmth in a planet’s lower atmosphere, due to the greater transparency of the atmosphere to visible radiation from the sun than to infrared radiation emitted from the planet’s surface.

- Oxford Dictionary

• noun warming of the surface and lower atmosphere of a planet (as Earth or Venus) that is caused by conversion of solar radiation into heat in a process involving selective transmission of short wave solar radiation by the atmosphere, its absorption by the planet’s surface, and reradiation as infrared which is absorbed and partly reradiated back to the surface by atmospheric gases.

- Meriam Webster’s Dictionary

Let’s illustrate Greenhouse…

Greenhouse effect goes simply like this, you parked your car at the parking area under the direct sunlight. Heat, of course enters the interior of your car. While the ambient temperature outside might be 85 degrees Fahrenheit, inside your car the temperature easily zooms upward to 130F. The greenhouse effect is what happens when heat is trapped in one way or another and then increases as more heat radiation is added.

Humanity’s Fault

Some people just take this fact for granted and still unaware of the visible proof of it nowadays. Some people don’t even think this is real. Greenhouse Effect is humanity’s fault, our own mistake, the trashes, plastics and rubber materials that we burned, Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) present in our refrigerators, hair sprays, etc. It is also out moral obligation to correct these mistakes. I remember my elementary teacher used to tell us always that “Prevention is always better than cure.”
